Riga
The SPI Group is currently leading the development of a prestigious multi-function complex in Riga, Latvia - one of the biggest construction projects in the Baltic region. The futuristic development, built as two distinctive towers, has been designed by Latvia's leading architect and will include office space along with a four-star hotel and shops.
Situated close to the city centre and the historic Old Town, the towers - at 120m and 100m respectively - will be clearly the tallest buildings in Riga. The two towers will be linked at the base by a glass atrium common area - and by a glass walk-way close to the top.
The taller of the two towers, with more than 30 stores, will contain top-grade offices along with a luxurious shopping mall, restaurants and bars as well as convenience stores. The shorter of the two, with its 25 stores, will be a first class hotel.
The hotel will be operated by one of the world's leading hotel operators. The hotel will have more than 300 rooms and suites, along with bars and restaurants. On the top floor there will be a state-of-the-art conference facility with panoramic views across the city.
The project has huge importance in the further development of Latvia as a sovereign participant in Europe's integration process. The office space and the business-focused hotel will cater for the growing influx of western companies looking at the Latvian market.
Work, which started in the summer of 2006, is due to be completed before the end of 2009. SPI has partnered with leading multi-national developers and builders to handle the prestigious project. The construction is important to the local economy, providing, many jobs during the construction phase - and that will continue once the buildings are completed.
